Welcome to Lake Hotel Sahambavy

Charming hotel next to the only tea plantation in Madagascar

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is to promote the development of the rural economy through local labor and agriculture. We make our dairy products ourselves (cheese, yogurt), honey, bread, and the cultivation of orangeraries, vegetables to guarantee our customers quality products ... Our products are organic, homemade and cultivated on site. We also have an agreement with the railroad, the FCE line (Fianarantsoa Cote Est) ... for the routing of our customers to Manakara. We have a development project in Andrambovato (3rd station after Sahambavy) in order to preserve the primary forest corridor connecting the Ranomafana National Park to Andringintra.

You can taste these dishes in our panoramic restaurant or on our shaded terraces on the edge of the lake. All our dishes are prepared from quality fresh organic products. We have a two -hectare vegetable garden and our breads, yogurt, cheese etc .... are homemade.

The last train corridor

Living close to Sahambavy railway station, railroad life has become my daily life, and travelers' stories are a must-share story to share. The only passenger train line still operating in Madagascar, will start in a crunching metal of another age ... At 20 km / h, its cruising speed gives you time to admire the lush panoramas of the emerald forest. A trip not to be missed!

History

Chance wanted one day Kim and Olga Leong decided to buy land by Lake Sahambavy and build a simple retirement cabin there. Olga made an Eden garden. Travelers on the train station stopped in Sahambavy thought that the place was a stage cottage .... ... Thus was born the idea of making it a hotel…. Fate then wanted their biggest daughter, Maggie, returning from Canada to take over the family business with her husband Sergi Formentin. The united youth to experience has transformed the place into a small paradise. Day after day, the history of Lake Hotel continues to evolve ... Soon fifteen consecutive years have made it possible to build around fifty bungalows. The little story is not over yet ...
